Inspiration & design context

The broad angular and rhombic vocabulary has a textile research basis. This square-tessera arrangement and its title are original; no named kanaas or inherited meaning is assigned.

From design to a physical sample

The specification contains numbered individual pieces, nominal dimensions in inches and centimeters, glaze roles, research sources and the full editable recipe. Your maker confirms tolerances, joints, suitability and price. These studies have no approved stock or production price yet; cultural collaboration and physical sampling remain part of development.

PROVENANCE & PEOPLE

Keep the story with the surface.

These are original development studies. The Wayuu- and Muisca-inspired collections identify an influence, not community authorship or endorsement. The contemporary cut-piece studies carry no historical attribution. Artist collaboration and physical sampling are the next stage.

References still being studied

Kanas: dibujos tradicionales Wayuú (1989) is a bibliographic lead. Its full motif plates have not been reviewed in this research pass. Public access does not confer commercial reproduction rights.

Designed with people, not just references.

A future commercial collection should include paid artists and community advisers from its inception. Agree on permitted forms and uses, names, authorship, compensation and approvals before production.

There is no signed Indigenous partnership behind these studies today. We keep that status visible while developing original geometry and seeking the right collaborators.

A growing global library

Historic sources, living traditions and contemporary design can all belong here, with their distinctions intact. Portuguese, Greek and other influences can join through their own research and collaboration. Shared shapes alone do not establish a shared cultural meaning.
